CRID – Centro di Ricerca Interdipartimentale su Discriminazioni e vulnerabilitą

The CRID (Interdepartmental Research Centre on Discrimination and vulnerabilities) was founded in 2016 putting together the expertise of professors and researchers of several departments (Law, Engineering “Enzo Ferrari”, Economics “Marco Biagi”); moreover, it works with associations, administrations, and other entities in the investigation of vulnerabilities and discriminations, including the digital and invisible ones.

It is currently directed by Prof. Gianfrancesco Zanetti (Department of Law).

The Centre hosts various groups (Laboratory on Discrimination and vulnerability, Laboratory on legal studies towards the legal clinic, Digital workshop on law – ethics – new technologies, Working group on health and new technologies, Working group on legal gambling). CRID has been partner of the Horizon 2020 EQUAL-IST project (“Gender Equality Plans for Information Sciences and Technology Research Institution”) and, under the direction of Prof. Zanetti, is involved in the Encyclopedia of the Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy, promoted by the Internationale Vereinigung für Rechts- und Sozialphilosophie (IVR) and published by Springer.

CRID is promoting party of the “Festival della Migrazione” and started a Human migration observatory. CRID is part of an international network with several research centres, including the Instituto de Derechos Humanos “Bartolomé de las Casas” – University “Carlos III” (Madrid), and several professors and research from various universities (among them, Tilburg, Berkeley, Istanbul, Seville, Glasgow, Granada).

Guidelines and methodological tools have been created, among its research outputs, and discussed in many workshops, seminars and laboratories.

A series of books on “Diritto e vulnerabilitą – Studi e ricerche del CRID” is published by Giappichelli.
